1 of 5. Frying Pan Chronicles.
He steps into the room, not knowing he’s not alone. He pours a glass of whiskey, neat; but only because he always forgets to refill the ice tray. He sits down, takes a sip and stares at his apartment.
Nothing is in it’s place. A metaphor for his own life, he thinks. He shouldn’t have left her. He should have treated her better. And now he is here again – just another loser. He laughs and shakes his head. He takes a big gulp and downs the rest of the whiskey.
Something is wrong. There’s a cigarette bud in the ashtray, the tip still faintly glowing red. He hasn’t smoked in weeks. He turns around quickly, only to be met with a blinding pain.
Then darkness.
She steps into the room. It’s dark and dusty. He could never keep things clean, she thinks to herself. She finds a pack of cigarettes he keeps in his cupboard. He stopped smoking weeks ago, but there’s always a pack just for in case. She lights the cigarette, puffs it and thinks of how she is going to confront him.
She needs to tell him what a bastard he is. She hears him at the door. She puts out the cigarette and hides behind the kitchen door. He walks in, pours a glass of whiskey and sits down. He stares at the wall and laughs. Does he know she is here? Is he mocking her? She feels a rage build up in her. She is going to say what needed to be said a long time ago.
She walks up to him with a frying pan in her hand. She stares at the pan, she doesn’t remember taking it out of the kitchen. He turns around and looks up at her. She doesn’t think, she just acts. The pan hits him hard in the face and he tumbles to the floor.
“If you don’t want to listen, you’ll have to feel,” she says. And then she’s gone.
